Thank You for Being Willing
Red Rover celebrated her twelfth birthday a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t a flashy shindig. In fact, she celebrated very quietly, with only her founder in attendance. We did a little walk down memory lane and got pretty choked up in the process.
Some of you were there on Day One, when I nervously went off on my own, believing that anything they could do, I could do better, and wanting with all my heart and soul to bring that to my clients. To all of you who have joined Red Rover along the way, we’re so glad you’re with us, trusting us with your brand and with your events and with your teams.
Thank you all for making this the most fun adventure I could have ever imagined. From a solopreneur to the wonderful team of eight we have today—holy cow. It’s amazing.
Last week I was talking to a teacher friend who is encouraging her young students to think about how to “be”. Be Nice. Be Kind. And then she landed on a doozy: Be Willing. Which I think may be the crux of it all.
Be willing to take a chance. Be willing to work hard. Be willing to try something new. Be willing to take responsibility. Be willing to ask. Be willing to apologize. Be willing to help. Be willing to share. Be willing to find a way to serve another human being.
And so today, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. For being willing. For once upon a time being willing to give a new vendor a chance. And for all the times since then when you were willing to trust us with your projects. Thank you.
You’re the reason Red Rover is here. You’re the reason Liz and Auni and Carrie and Danielle and Amanda and Michelle and Erynn and I fire up our computers each morning to see what magic we can make, what puzzles we can solve, and what missions impossible we can tackle.

The past few years have brought about so much change. While I’ve done a great job of adapting, sometimes I wonder if I’ve settled into a routine when it comes to recognition, gifting, and even our event giveaways. I think it may be time to shake things up, but I have no idea where to even start.
